Social Media continues to mold and transform how we intake information. 140 Characters, Memes, Video Clips, the different channels that media is given to us is consumed so fast, but I don’t think we hold onto it as much as we think we do.

I find that many are ingesting these tweets, Facebook posts, and videos so rapidly that I am not aren’t holding onto what I just read or watched for more than a day or in some cases even an hour. Continually I find myself retweeting some accounts and having to go back and really dissect what I just retweeted. I don’t feel that I am alone on this either.

Being on Social Media is a must by now if you are a business. The playing field is more even than ever. If a grumpy cat account <s>@</s>GrumpyyCat can have almost 1 million followers, then I am certain that a business account can reach their specific demographic and customer base and gain a significant following. Am I suggesting you build a business account and start posting? No. Below I highlight 3 basics that I think will help you make your account successful.

1. Voice.

You need to have a voice for your account, many people still don’t understand what this means. Your social media posts shouldn’t be like blog titles. They need to be conversational, constantly interacting with followers and staying on top of the TT (Trending Topics). @TacoBell is a very good example of an account with a voice.

2. Quality not Quantity.

Yes, I am guilty of this, just as much as you are. We all are wanting TONS of followers. I have taken a different perspective on a lot of things this year with the mentality that I want to focus more on the quality of things and not the quantity. I think if businesses focus on developing relationships with their followers the organic growth will happen on it’s own. @BrianPruett is a good example of this, I have watched his account go from 1,000 followers to over 70k. He constantly interactions with people, and his posts have meaning. Businesses need to invest and nurture their followers and eventually they will turn into advocates. <Biblical Reference> Jesus only had 12 followers in the beginning. Just saying.

3. Be Constant not Over Bearing.

Again, I am guilty of this. I think posting 30-50 times a day helps you. Well not so much, you need to understand when your demographic is online, @SproutSocial is an amazing tool for businesses to use to track and see the best times to post their material. You want your posts to go viral, so post them when the most people are online. Make sense? You don’t have to post 100 times a day for you to get noticed. I like to see businesses post at least 10 times a day, they don’t all have to be unique posts, you can reword things and post at different times and still be successful. A lot of the major news publications do this.

As a millennial I think there is going to be a huge shift in how social media will play a role in business. I really believe that the most successful accounts will be the ones who are investing in their followers, building meaningful relationships, and developing a unique voice. In a time and a society where many relationships can be summed up in a 140 characters or less I don’t think it will be enough to stay successful that way. We need to concentrate on really understanding the person, follower, customer, whomever and really striving to fulfill their need. Just some thoughts.

Growing up in the church I was always surrounded by the word of God. My parents taught me at young age that without God I am nothing. I am from a small town in Texas, called Paradise. Population less than 400, but on Sundays the population jumps to over 1000 because of Grace Fellowship Church, where I attended while I grew up there.

It’s small town Texas, just like you see in the movies. Football is king, everyone knows everyone, and you will get stuck behind a tractor heading to bail hay. It’s just the way it goes. I always knew what being a Christian meant, I knew that when the time came I was to give my life to Christ, let him take him take over my heart, and was to be baptized as a symbol of being born new with him in my heart.

I did it, more than once. Being a part of the church, having my parents be the leaders of the children’s ministry at the time, I went to church camp after church camp, youth retreat, FCA camps, you name it, I was there. It never failed that I would feel the presence of the Lord and give my heart to him, only to go back to my ways of being disobedient when camp was over.

In high school I was pretty normal, didn’t get into too much trouble, grades were mediocre, was a part of all the sports teams, nothing special. Graduated in 2007, which seems like ages ago now, went and attended Abilene Christian University (Go Cats!) with my best friend Bradley Bryant.

Hated it. My freshman year, was not the best year. I went back home almost every weekend, didn’t get involved with any on campus organizations (first mistake), and was only concentrated on one thing. Girls. (second mistake) I finished my freshman year with a 1.5 gpa. Can you cay ouch? As soon as May came around to mark the end of my freshman year I wanted out. I un-enrolled from the university, and started applying to schools closer to home and in Houston.

Took the summer off, tried to get back into baseball shape so I could walk onto another university, I was set on attending Houston Baptist University in the fall. Had my place to live picked out, classes scheduled, whole 9 yards. Two weeks until classes, I have it put on my heart that I was not suppose to leave ACU. Immediately call the university, and see if I can enroll in classes for the fall. I could, but only if I drove down that day and talked to the Provost and go to the Registrar to make sure that I could get into the classes that I needed. So I did it.

Attending ACU in the fall I had a much better experience, I got to live in a POD (Apartment) with a group of 7 guys, 8th guy being myself. At that point, I knew that those guys would/will be in my life forever, and will mark a huge impact on who I was and what I am going to be. Getting to room with my best friend Bradley again, he was a Math major, but had a passion for learning more about the word and how God was going to use him. He by far made the biggest impact on my life during college, his obedience to stay in the word and to know that he was not here on earth to impress man but to serve our Lord was something that I quickly began to learn for myself.

Always wanting to impress people, my biggest fear was not being liked. I would go out of my way to make sure that people liked me. Wether buying last minute concert tickets, being the driver for a weekend vacation to the mountains, you name it. I wanted to be the guy that people could count on and that people would like.

At this point, I was ahead in school so I was planning to Graduate the next year, (being my junior year) so the summer between my sophomore year and Junior year I decided to go on a mission trip to China. I went for the summer and immediately fell in love with the culture, the people, and the passion for learning that they had. Using the bible as our curriculum that’s how we taught English. I had an incredible time and I knew right then that I will always have a passion for China.

The problem that I had with attending ACU was that because it was a private christian school, where I attended “Chapel” and had “bible classes,” I felt like it wasn’t needed that I had to attend church on Sundays, (third mistake). My walk with God was inexistent, I wasn’t word like I should have been, I partied, I drank, and my grades slipped. Again. Still though, I managed to graduate from ACU in three years, and at the start of spring semester of my last I met a girl, who I thought was the one.

ACU has a phrase, “Ring by Spring, or I want my money back.” Well this girl didn’t attend ACU, but I had full intentions on giving her that ring. I fell hard, I fell fast, and before you know it I was flying to NYC to pick up her new ring. I was set to graduate in May, but I had a maymester class I needed to take for my credits to be complete, so the week between finals and my maymester, I flew to NYC, back to DFW, and drove to Austin at 2 in the morning to ask her to marry me the next day.

She said yes, I was the happiest guy in the world. EVERYTHING was going well at the time, we had our new puppy, we were engaged, I was about to graduate and be done with school, all before I was even 21….yeah think about that. Moving fast is the way I live. Always have, always will.

The way things fell with school, I had to go back to China one more time to finish up my second language credit, (I speak Chinese) so this meant I wasn’t going to be with my fiancé all summer while she planned our wedding. We had a October wedding date set, but we were too anxious and wanted to be together. My parents, at this point in time have moved to Costa Rica, where they have their ministry, so they know all the cool places, and have recommended us just have the wedding there.

You called it. Destination wedding in Costa Rica it is. How exciting right? Well, I’ll give you a little insight, I finished in China the first week of August, flew back, got on a plane the next day, and flew to Costa Rica for our wedding the next weekend. Got married, moved back to Texas and started work. Everything is perfect. I have my wife, I have my dog, we both have nice cars, living in a three story town home, have a good paying job, LIFE IS GOOD!

Well, so I thought. One day while at work I get a text saying she is moving back to her parents house for the weekend and she will see me later, I said okay that’s fine. Thinking she needed to pack up stuff and move it into our place. I was wrong. I went home and never saw her again. She never came back, a month into our marriage, I get divorce papers. No reason, no closure, nothing. All the furniture is gone, the only thing left in our home is my mattress, and clothes.

Devastated. My life has been rocked. I remember crumbling to the ground, tears flowing down my eyes in the middle of my living room, banging my fists against the ground in pain. Screaming, “Why God, Why did you do this to me!?” Weeks went by that I didn’t fall asleep or wake up without having tears in my eyes. Continuing to question why everything that I had going for me was taken away.

I turned to alcohol, I turned to pornography, anything that could dull the pain that my heart was feeling I turned too. At this point, my bank account is drained. All the savings, everything. Gone. Any money that I did make went straight to the bars, I remember walking out with 200-400 dollar tabs to my name, on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Making myself throw-up so I could feel pain, I became numb to the world. I didn’t have friends because everyone was still at school since I graduated early, my parents were in Costa Rica, so it wasn’t like I could just go to their house. I was alone. I needed change.

I quit my job, I moved to Costa Rica, feeling like a failure. I had to get back on my feet some how, some way. So the best cure, the beach. Spending two months there I felt like it was time for me to head back to the states. Able to stand, and take baby steps I started relying on God more and more each day.

Since the company I worked for had offices in Houston, I wanted to start new. With some help, I made the move to Houston. Didn’t know anyone, didn’t where to live, nothing, but I was okay with it because God was going to provide, and I believed that.

I knew I wanted to get back into school because that’s where my age people were. I got into Rice and did the professional program for a degree in non-profit leadership for executives. Made connections, and got back into the flow of things. One thing was missing though. Church. Looked around couldn’t find anything until I got lost one Saturday and came across Second Baptist Church, Woodway. Little did I know this was about to be my new home.

Attended church that Sunday, couldn’t even make it into the sanctuary without having tears fill up in my eyes, I made it. I knew this is where I was suppose to be and the presence of God had never been more strong. Got plugged in with a summer softball league with an amazing group of guys, started attending church and started growing closer to God. I felt what love is suppose to be.

To wrap this up, the word Love has been demoralized by todays society. It has been, thrown around without meaning, it’s just turned into a word not an action. Love is a verb.

You can not show someone true love unless you yourself have felt the true, authentic and genuine love that our God has shown you. He pulled me from my darkest days, gave me the answer to why, and has allowed me to share my testimony to make an impact on peoples lives that have not felt or knew who God is. God is love. I end with this.

Psalm 62:2, I have it tattooed on my wrist as a daily reminder that with God, I will never be shaken.

Psalm 62:2

2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Many blessings,

A lingering question that I am sure is about to explode in the eyes of all the critics and non believers of the Stop Kony Campaign. Now what do you do? Today I found myself saying the same thing.

Sweet, watched the video, signed the pledge, donated to the cause, and got some Stop Kony Swag. Now what?

Well here are three things that I think we need to do:

1. Don’t stop the movement, it will die down some, believe me it will. But our jobs is to keep the fire going when it starts to smolder until April 20th, when we cover the night.

2. Be respectful, don’t beat people up about it. Some times our passion overrides the actual cause and will turn people off to the movement. Can’t make everyone happy you know?

3. Be in prayer, as Christians we are called to help others in need. Although, we might not be able to fly to Africa and find Kony ourselves or donate some serious cash to fund Anti-Kony raids. We can pray though, that God will help us fight against injustice and help free all those who are oppressed by Kony and his army.

I see why many people are against the movement, but honestly who else and what other non-profit has done something like this and has had a large enough impact to crash websites, have over 10 million views in less than 72 hours, and create a flood of Stop Kony articles??? None.

Blessings,

Since it’s a hot topic, might as well talk about it right? You got it.

Obviously if you are reading this, you have at least pea-size clue on who Joseph Kony is. If not, let’s give you the run down. Wiki Version, since this whole concept is based on sharing right?

Joseph Kony (born 18 September 1964) is a Ugandan guerrilla group leader, head of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a group engaged in a violent campaign to establish theocratic government based on the Ten Commandments throughout Uganda. The LRA say that spirits have been sent to communicate this mission directly to Kony.

Directed by Kony, the LRA has earned a reputation for its actions against the people of several countries, including northern Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Sudan. It has abducted and forced an estimated 66,000 children to fight for them, and has forced the internal displacement of over 2,000,000 people since its rebellion began in 1986.In 2005 Kony was indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, but has evaded capture.

Good, that’s out of the way. I love social media, it’s my passion, it’s my job, it’s how I connect. Let’s be real though, if it was not for social media as of today 99% of you would have no clue to who Joseph Kony was or what he has done.

March 5th, 2012. #Kony2012 is launched and like a good movement it spreads like fire. Receiving recognition in over 150 of the 196 countries in the World. Also, like a good movement it has push back. Some call it a #FAD and people are jumping on the #BANDWAGON.

I understand. I get it. Being a part of the Rice Center of Philanthropy and Non-Profit Leadership, I see charities and non profits all the time trying to spread their mission and receiving criticism and/or praise.

The organization behind Kony 2012, Invisible Children Inc. has been called an extremely shady nonprofit as well as being called ”misleading,” “naive,” and “dangerous” by a Yale political science professor, and has been accused by Foreign Affairs of “manipulat[ing] facts for strategic purposes.” They have also been criticized by the Better Business Bureau for refusing to provide information necessary to determine if IC meets the Bureau’s standards.

Additionally, IC has a low two-star rating in accountability from Charity Navigator because they won’t let their financials be independently audited. That’s not a good thing. But you’ve missed the point to read into that. KONY 2012 is not about seeking donations, it’s about bringing awareness to and for the Invisible Children that Joseph Kony has been capturing and turning into soldiers for the last 26 years.

I take this stance as a firm believer in God. I see an issue and I react to solve it. It’s in my DNA.

Acts 20:35

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

I’m not rich. I can’t give hundred of thousands of dollars to IC to help their campaign to find and capture Kony. But you know what I can do, press that “like” button, “share” that post, “retweet” that tweet. That’s how I am helping. Yes I donated as well, but the mission is create awareness. As a part of the DoSomething generation this movement makes me smile because it is my age group making this possible. We aren’t wealthy, shoot just a couple months ago we had people #occupywallstreet to show everyone that we aren’t. By the way where has that movement gone?

Back to my point. I understand nearly every position about the Kony 2012 film. I really do. But as a believer, I go to the bible for my research and guidance.

Galatians 6:2

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Matthew 5:1-48

Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. …

Deuteronomy 15:11

For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

Need I go on? As a brother in Christ, I am called to help those who can not help themselves, and if that is through sharing a 30 min video to bring awareness about a particular issue, then you better believe I am going to do it. #SorryImNotSorry. #Kony2012

Blessings,

Recently I have been in sort of funk, spiritually, emotionally, physically, mentally, and any other “LY” I am sure I have been there it seems like.

One of my friends, Chloe, posted this song on her Facebook wall and since it has some how been DNA’ed into my blood to click on videos that peak my interest I clicked on it….

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhdZtejGxQc&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Sometimes every one of us fears
Like we’ll never be healed
Sometimes
Sometimes every one of us aches
Like we’ll never be saved
Sometimes

I feel like that’s all the time with me…fearing not being liked, fearing losing all my money, fearing not getting married again, fearing not having the ones I love around me anymore…

Feeling like I will never be fully healed….

When we’ve given up
Let your healing come
When theres nothing left
Let your healing come
Til were risin up
Let your healin come
Where You go we will follow
Where You go we will follow

Listening to this song tonight… I was moved…I collapsed to my knees, buried my face in my hands and began to let it flow….giving up all I had to let the Lord come in a heal me..repeating to him where you I will follow..

It’s Your love that we adore
It’s like a sea without a shore
We’re lost in You, Were lost in You
It’s Your love that we adore
It’s like a sea without a shore
We’re lost in You, Were lost in You
Sometimes

Sometimes it’s like we never loved home
For all the love we know
Sometimes like in a smile of a song
When you feel it come
Then that feelings gone
It flies

When we’ve given up
Let your healing come
When theres nothing left
Let your healing come
Til were risin up
Let your healin come
Where You go we will follow
Where You go we will follow

It’s your love that we adore
It’s like a sea without a shore
We’re lost in You, Were lost in You
(3x)

Its your love we adore
Its like a sea without a shore
Don’t be afraid, Don’t be afraid

Just set your sail and risk the ocean
Show me grace
Let’s risk the ocean
Show me grace
Let’s risk the ocean
Show me grace
Let’s risk the ocean
Show me grace

Where you go we will follow
I’m on my knees
Where you go we will follow
Oh God send me
Where you go we will follow
I’m on my knees
Where you go we will follow
Oh God send me

It’s your love that we adore
It’s like a sea without a shore
We’re lost in You, Were lost in You
It’s your love that we adore
It’s like a sea without a shore
We’re lost in You, Were lost in You

Where you go we will follow

Where you go we will follow
I’m on my knees
Where you go we will follow

I really have no words to describe how I feel….after feeling beatin and battered…having gaping holes in my heart…fearing everything except My God. The one person I am called to fear.

There is no place I rather be than to be in the arms of my Lord. Begging him to set a fire down in my soul. I want more of you God….

It makes you smarter

According to Dr. Matthew Walker of the University of California, napping for as little as one hour resets your short-term memory and helps you learn facts more easily after you wake up.

Abandon all-nighters

Foregoing sleep by cramming all night reduces your ability to retain information by up to 40%. If you can, mix in a nap somewhere to refresh your hippocampus.

It doesn’t mean what you think

If you know you have to pull an all-nighter, try a “prophylactic nap.” It’s a short nap in advance of expected sleep deprivation that will help you stay alert for up to 10 hours afterwards.

You can’t avoid that down period after lunch by not eating

Human bodies naturally go through two phases of deep tiredness, one between 2-4 a.m. and between 1-3 p.m. Skipping lunch won’t help this period of diminished alertness and coordination.

Pick the right time

After lunch in the early afternoon your body naturally gets tired. This is the best time to take a brief nap, as it’s early enough to not mess with your nighttime sleep.

Hour naps are great

A 60-minute nap improves alertness for 10 hours, although with naps over 45 minutes you risk what’s known as “sleep inertia,” that groggy feeling that may last for half an hour or more.

But short naps are best

For healthy young adults, naps as short as 20, 10, or even 2 minutes can be all you need to get the mental benefits of sleep, without risking grogginess.

Drink coffee or RedBull first

The way this works is you drink a cup of coffee right before taking your 20-minute or half-hour nap, which is precisely how long caffeine takes to kick in. That way when you wake up, you’re not only refreshed, but ready to go.

The NASA nap

A little group called NASA discovered that just a 26-minute nap increases performance by 34% and alertness by 54%. Pilots take advantage of NASA naps while planes are on autopilot.

Can’t sleep? Don’t stress

Even if you can’t fall asleep for a nap, just laying down and resting has benefits. Studies have found resting results in lowered blood pressure, which even some college kids have to worry about if they are genetically predisposed to high blood pressure.

Napping may save your life

A multi-year Greek study found napping at least three times per week for at least 30 minutes resulted in a 37% lower death rate due to heart problems.

More nap benefits for the brain

Not only will napping improve your alertness, it will also help your decision-making, creativity, and sensory perception.

But wait, there’s more

Studies have found napping raises your stamina 11%, increases ability to stay asleep all night by 12%, and lowers the time required to fall asleep by 14%.

The ultimate nap

According to Dr. Sara Mednick, the best nap occurs when REM sleep is in proportion to slow-wave sleep. Use her patented Take A Nap Nap Wheel to calculate what time of day you can nap to the max.

Research shows that women who sleep five hours at night are 32% more likely to experience major weight gain than those sleeping seven hours. A two-hour nap isn’t feasible for many, but napping is a good way to make up for at least some lost night sleep.

Do like the Romans do

It’s a good way to catch up

Tattoo time!!

So, many people have some pretty strong opinions on tattoos and why you should or shouldn’t have them visible at work. Well, I will let you figure out where I stand in regards to that…I mean you are talking about a guy who will wear a three piece suit around his house…just because. I seriously doubt I would be rejected for a job, because of tattoos on my wrists, of course maybe that’s why I own my own business now instead of working for corporate America.Who knows.

Let’s get to the point shall we. If you have been following me you have seen my itinerary for this summer and the next year, over 23 cities, 17 Countries, 4 Continents, and all while living out of 1 backpack.

With a collaboration of many reasons of why I am doing this, it really comes down to this. I want to see the World, I want to see all of Gods creations, I want to be the change that we long to see, I want to be the light of the world that I am called to be.

Micah 6:8
8 He has told you, human one, what is good and what the LORD requires from you: to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God.

I think the message put’s it perfectly by saying,

8But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.

If that doesn’t make sense, I honestly do not know what does. God is showing us EXACTLY how to live. I will be traveling the world, meeting people of all different backgrounds, it is my job to be humble about the experience. Knowing that there will be things that I see and encounter that many will never be a part of, or choose not to be a part of. There will be parts of my trip where I will be around people who don’t have the ability to go to the gas station to buy water, I will be around families who are broken because they have no place to live, I will be around children who have been sold by their own parents into slavery…

I want to show the world and everyone I come into contact with the EVERLASTING love that God has for them, but doing it in a humbling manner and understanding that someone will always have it better or they will have worse than me unfortunately.

So here is my newest tattoo,

No matter where I go in the world, I am called to do what is fair and just, to be compassionate and loyal in my love and to walk humbly with my God.

Blessings,

If you are here in Houston today, the weather is the type where you just want to stay inside and watch tv or read a good book. It’s misty and dark, but it’s also a work day. So off to “work” I go, I get to have a lot of quiet time driving to and from work in the morning. This morning I put it on the Message, on satellite radio.

The song, “You Love Me Anyway,” by Sidewalk Prophets came on. I had actually never heard this song before. I start listening to the lyrics and begin singing, the next thing you know I have tears rolling down from both eyes.

Going through the song, I am just reminded of all the things I have done in my past. Being a young man, dealing with the temptations of lust and pornography, having gone through a divorce and been broken, being a materialist, lying to my parents, being a fool and having too much alcohol…the list goes on…

But, My Lord still loves me. How is it that we turn away from him? Of all the sins I have committed, compiled up, he still loves me anyway. It’s a feeling that is indescribable. We do him so wrong all the time, we doubt him, we turn from him, and he still loves us anyway.

With this sin in my heart I tried to bury his grace, And then alone, I still called out for him, So ashamed of my life, But he loves me anyways.

I hope you understand that no matter what you do, what you have done, what you will continue to do, that God will love you anyways.

Blessings,

-B

This morning was ROUGH, I did not want to get out of bed. You know the feeling, your sheets are warm, your pillow is cold. If you sleep like me, the sheets are pulled up all the way to your nose. You are comfortable and dread getting out of bed to fight the cold air and rush to turn on the shower to turn on the hot water.

I set my alarm for 6:30am, because I was planning on getting up early and conquering my “case of the mondays” with a hearty breakfast, morning yoga and my KICKIN’ KOMBUCHA…..yeah…didn’t happen. Woke up at 7:30, got dressed, walked out the door. No Breakfast. No Yoga. No Kombucha. “Case of the Monday” was setting in fast.

Here I am complaining and being in a really bleh mood. I get to work, start my daily routine. Facebook. Twitter. Linkedin. Gmail. WordPress. Pandora. Logged in, ready to go.

I decide to take a little walk around the building, it’s a beautiful day, (as it has been lately here in Houston) and I needed to breathe some fresh air. Every day I see our security guard in the reception area of the building, say good morning and go on with my day. Today was different, he greeted me with a Good Morning Mr. Huggins, which I quickly had to tell him Mr. Huggins was my Fathers name. Not mine. I said goodmorning, and turned to go back up to the office. Then he said,

“Mr. Huggins, you are always so relaxed. I tell my wife every day, “there is this young man who walks in to the building, always looking so relaxed, so chill, and looks like nothing in the world can stop him,” What’s your secret?”

Note: He catches me after I have already walked around the building and had some serious praying time with God.

I tell him, ” I thank God everyday for how blessed I am and know that with him I can take on the world.”I tell him I will be praying for him and wish him a happy Monday.

A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, and realize how blessed you are.

Here I am: Awesome Loft, Money in the Bank, Car to Drive, Job to Work at, Friends, Family, Clothes to Wear, all things that many of us take for granted more than we should. So today, I challenge you. Just to say a prayer, and thank our Lord for how blessed we are, and thanking him for sending his ONE and ONLY son to die for our sins.

Happy Monday. Blessings,

What do you think? Daily we search for what to do, where to eat, what to eat, what to wear, how to wear it, and so on and so forth. If you have been following me on my blog and on my twitter: @whoisbraxton you have been able to see that 2012 is going to be a huge year for me. It’s started out with a bang! It’s the end January and I am half way to my financial goal of $30,000 in saving before I leave to travel the world. Here are my goals : Braxton’s Goals 2012. It’s all about taking action. That’s the only reason I am where as of today.

Back to the coin toss, recently I read an article on Dr. Phil and his advice on New Years resolutions, he said if you really stuck to them and pushed towards your goals that you would find that you accomplish them in about half the time that you would have expected. It’s all about action. In this case the coin toss, I look at is my CTA- (Call to Action), not saying that all my decsions are adhoc and from the hip, but you can say I am rather spontanteous and essentially know what I want, all I need is a catalyst to help me overcome the life block (writers block of life) So what better thing to use than a quarter. I found this picture to tie the blog back in. Check it out. It’s true, we all know what we are really wanting. We just have to go and do it.

-Blessings,

Coincidence? I think not. Yesterday an article was published in the New York Times. Go East, Young Man, was the headline of the article, it goes on to talk about a young man in his 20′s ( like me) who decides America and the status quo was enough. So he left, frustrated with his Job, he moved to China.

Putting myself in his position, I can see it clearly. If you are in your 20′s and recently graduated, you KNOW how difficult it is to find a job in the United States right now. I was EXTREMELY blessed with being able to jump into the family company right after school, but I know this, if I was not married right out of school and didn’t have to provide for my family and wanted to apply to other jobs outside of the family company, it would have been miserable. Even today, being graduated for almost two years, having plenty of experience for a leadership type role for a company, about to finish up another degree at Rice University , I speak three languages, run my own business, I still find it beyond difficult to find a job here in the U.S..

So what do I do, well you guessed it. If you have been following my blog you saw this post, It’s Time , you saw that I am planning on moving to China. June 6th to be specific, my 23rd birthday I will be on a jet plane heading back to China, to travel, to live, to explore, and if I get bored from having fun, to find a job. I love this quote by one of my favorite foodies:

“If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go. “
- Anthony Bourdain

THAT’S ME!!! It screams my name.

Yesterday, I also received this link from a favorite friend of mine. One more sign? I think so.

One unique thing about me is when I traveled to China three summers ago, I did pushups on The Great Wall….this guys has me beat.

Thank you for letting me vent my goals and ambitions to move to China. If anyone wants to tag a long for a couple weeks let me know! I would love to have a travel partner or two.

Blessings,

Ah yes, the image we are becoming very familiar with. Tim Tebow, NFL breakout star and devout Christian. As we know, many people like to give him crap about praying, having constant praise to God on national TV, having scripture on his eye-black, the list goes on and on. For me, I see him as a really good example to how as Christians we need to act DAILY. Yes, he does have the spot light on him on a regular basis so the accountability factor is always there, but to think for a second that behind closed doors he stops being the Tim Tebow that we see on tv….well to think that would be ridiculous.

I am sure his slips up on occasion, as we all do. But look at this way, how will you remember Tim when he is done playing in the NFL? Will it be because of his mad football skills or will it be because of how he represented us as Christians and when given the chance he never passed up the ability to talk about God and how he continually thankful for all the things that he has done in his life. I know my answer.

Here are 7 things that most might not know about good Ole’ Tim Tebow.

7. Arms or legs, he can beat you either way: Like Michael Vick, Tebow is lauded for his ability to create plays by running the football when a passing play doesn’t present itself. During his 2007 campaign at the helm of the Florida Gators, Tebow became the first college football player to both run and throw for 20 or more touchdowns in a single season.

6. He’s a toy store near you: Move over He-Man! Tebow’s amazing popularity inspired sports toy manufacturer McFarlane Toys to release three plastic incarnations of No. 15, from his Florida days to his stint with the Broncos.

5. Ka-Ching: Even in this sluggish economy, Tebow gets people to open their wallets in his honor. His Broncos jersey has been one of the NFL’s hottest-selling items since he was drafted in 2010, as it set a draft record for jersey sales, was the league’s top-selling jersey in each month since he was drafted; and putting the Broncos on top in jersey sales by team.

4. His contemporaries are not just Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, but Spider-man and The Incredible Hulk: Marvel artists immortalized the quarterback as a superhero called “Super Tim” for a piece on ESPN’s Sportscenter. Said Marvel Custom Solutions’ Bill Rosemann: “Like the Marvel heroes who pull off last minute victories, Tim Tebow has fans around the world on the edge of their seats and believing that — in our own lives — when time is running out and all looks lost, we can dig deep inside and use our various strengths to triumph over insurmountable odds.”

3. Won’t you be his neighbor? Tebow was recently voted the best celebrity neighbor for 2012, with 11 percent of voters saying they’d like to see him pull up in the next driveway. Tebow edged some A-list names for the honors: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (10 percent), and Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux (9 percent of the vote).

2. Despite the amazing amounts of attention, he’s still under a million Twitter followers: His verified Twitter account has just more than 871,000 followers as of early Monday, a figure that’s sure to grow as the Broncos continue through the post-season. Still, with less than a million followers, the crossover star is well behind all three Kardashian sisters, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.

1. He’s a video game tough guy, literally: In this year’s edition of the Cadillac of football video franchises — Madden — the rugged quarterback was ranked a near-perfect 98 in the toughness category, tying seven other players for the technical thumbs-up.
